At a Monday meeting a colleague told me he had recently been sick and that I shouldn’t sit near him. I appreciated the warning, but during the meeting I already got a sore throat. I thought it was just my hyperactive imagination but by 3 I had to go home. I figured it was a cold. Tuesday morning I got an emergency email: major outbreak of H1N1 at work. Anyone with “influenza-like illness” should presume they have it. Dang. I had been waiting with baited breath for the vaccine but this came faster.

So far, so good, I don’t feel great, but I don’t feel too terrible either. Working from home this week, resting a lot, and hoping it doesn’t turn into pneumonia. Supposed to watch for shortness of breath, but shortness of breath already happens a lot when you are 7 months pregnant and the lungs don’t have much room, hard to tell the difference.

Wish me luck!

I’m usually a lurker, but I wanted poke my head up to wish you luck. I don’t normally worry about the flu and I’ve never taken the annual vaccine, but this year — like you — I’ve been holding my breath that I could get it before getting sick with H1N1 (I’m 3+ months pregnant myself).

I hope and expect you’ll be okay, but I’m sure it’s creating some anxiety for you. Keep positive… and let us know how you are! 🙂
